Minimum standards and a section referring to photographs will no longer start on October 1 following an eleventh hour change to the Residential Tenancy Act amendments by Minister Vanessa Goodwin, following industry lobbying.  The remainder of the amendments are still set to commence on October 1, but the Minister held back two sections indefinitely in order to change them, something that the Tenants’ Union is disappointed with.  Specifically, the changes would reduce the number of stove hotplates in a family sized home from 4 to 2, and would strike out words that would require tenant permission for publicly displaying photos with tenants possessions in shot.
