In the June 2025 quarter the North West is again the Tasmanian region with the highest overall increases in rent, compared to both the previous quarter and the previous year. The North West weighted median rent increased by $387 per week (1.5 per cent), which equals an annual increase of 8 per cent.

The weighted median rent in the South was $510 per week (0.7 per cent) and a 5.4 per cent annual increase, whereas rents in the North decreased to $441 (-1 per cent), which is still an increase of 4.1 per cent compared to the June 2024 quarter.

Rents for three-bedroom properties saw moderate increases compared to the previous quarter, the only exception is the Central Coast in Tasmania’s North West where rents for three-bedroom properties rose dramatically by $45 to $480 per week.

However, some more significant increases can be observed compared to the same quarter last year: three-bedroom rent in Hobart increased by $52 from $598 to $650, in Glenorchy by $40 to $550, and by $25 in the South East, the Eastern Shore and Kingston to $525, $550 and $600 respectively.

Rents for three-bedroom properties in Inner and Outer Launceston increased by $5 and $10 respectively compared to the previous quarter and by $20 to June last year. Rents for three-bedroom homes in Launceston are now $510 in the Inner suburbs and $480 in Outer Launceston.
