Minimum Notice Periods for Farm Workers’ Leases
“Last year, the Residential Tenancy Regulations (the Regulations) were amended to increase flexibility in the employment and accommodation of rural workers. However, last year’s amendments did not include minimum notice periods for the termination of primary production residential tenancy agreements.
The Residential Tenancy Amendment Regulations 2025 propose amending the Regulations by inserting notice requirements for primary production residential tenancy agreements. If made, the proposed amendments would require a primary production residential tenancy agreement to include a provision that parties to the agreement must give 21 days’ notice of an intention to terminate the agreement.” (CBOS)
In a joint letter with other community organisations, we expressed our support for the amendment regulations.
