We provided feedback to the Tasmanian Housing Strategy Exposure Draft.

Our recommendations outlined in our letter below include:

• a review of the Residential Tenancy Act (1997) to strengthen tenants’ security of tenure, rent regulation, pets and minimum standards;
• a commitment to retaining existing public housing stock and a set percentage of public housing in the acquisition and construction of new social housing;
• a disincentive for the conversion of existing entire properties into short stay accommodation; and
• a commitment to an empty homes levy.
